In order to apply or be considered for financial aid you must complete the "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FASFA) or the "FAFSA Renewal Application". Upon receipt of your FAFSA the City University Application Processing Center (UAPC) will forward the the 1997-98 TAP/APTS Application and CUNY Supplement form to you to complete. This 1997-98 TAP/APTS Application and CUNY Supplement serves as an application for the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), NYS Aid for Part-time Students (APTS), and provides supplemental information for campus based aid at the City University of New York. You must complete this application even if you have already submitted a HESC TAP Application.

Financial Aid information will be posted on your bill. If it is not there or if it is incorrect, you may report to the Financial Aid Office, Room 241 HN, or call (212)772-4820 during our regularly scheduled office hours.

ALL STUDENTS RECEIVING STATE AID OF ANY KIND MUST DECLARE A MAJOR BY THE TIME THEY HAVE COMPLETED 60 COLLEGE CREDITS. THERE IS NO WAIVER FOR THIS REGULATION.

SEEK - State regulations require that entering SEEK freshmen file a completed "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FASFA) and TAP/APTS Application and CUNY Supplement form in order to register as a SEEK student. If you have not done so, you must report to the Financial Aid Office prior to registration.

Note to Transfer Students - Students transferring from SEEK, HEOP, or EOP must submit copies of their original financial aid applications used to determine their initial eligibility.
Students transferring mid-year must file a TAP change form.

PELL - You must submit all copies of your Student Aid Report (SAR). Students requiring verification must submit a PELL Verification Form (available in Room 241 HN) and appropriate documentation as noted on SAR. A non-valid SAR cannot be processed. In addition, all students may be required to submit Xerox copies of social security and alien registration cards.

TAP - If you have applied for TAP you should receive a TAP Award Certificate.

Federal Direct Stafford Loan Program - Registration may be completed by presentation of a Federal Direct Stafford Loan check or other form of valid payment. Hunter College policy allows deferment of tuition based on the submission of your loan application. To insure that your application is processed, you must file your completed application by September 15, 1997. In addition, in order to have your need determined by the Federal Needs Analysis Methodology, all students applying for a Stafford Loan must submit a Student Aid Report. Only matriculated students are eligible to apply for a Federal Direct Stafford Loan.

Empire State Teachers Scholarships - If you have applied for an Empire State Teachers Scholarship, you will be notified by the New York State Higher Education Corporation (NYS HESC)

Vietnam Veterans Tuition Assistance (VVTA) - If you have applied for VVTA , you will be notified by NYS HESC.
